How do you empty a portable toilet?
How to empty a portable toilet:
-
Most portable toilets with large waste tanks of over 250 litres require a specialized service contractor using a vacuum truck to empty them.
-
Some toilets can be emptied by the owner if they install a rear evacuation valve, which is an access point to the waste tank. However, this usually involves being able to lift and move the toilet to a dump point and connecting a hose to gravity empty the toilet.
-
Otherwise, for standard portable toilets at a venue, on a work site, or at home, you usually have to organize a contractor to come in with a vacuum truck. They will use a wand to access the toilet waste tank via the bowl assembly, which has a flip-up hinge that will give them full access to the waste tank. They can then put the wand into the waste tank and vacuum out the contents of the toilet.
-
Current toilets often have a hinged bowl assembly for access. Some of the older toilets (older fibreglass) have what's classed as an inspection or access point next to the toilet that you unscrew and then put the wand down into.
-
For most people, they are not able to empty their own portable toilet, especially referring to large construction-style large tank toilets.
In relation to caravan toilets with twenty litre tanks, yes, you can remove the cassette and dump it into your toilet /septic, then clean it out and start again.
